P112 Gauge Head Position Sensor

The P112 is a durable, affordable, high accuracy linear inductive position sensor designed for gauge head postioning in scientific and industrial applications.
The P112 is very compact and offers a good stroke to overall length ratio.

Like all Positek sensors the P112 provides a linear output that is proportional to the displacement. Each unit is supplied calibrated to the exact travel required by the customer, the P112 is available with any travel from 10mm to 50mm. For example, if your application requires 3/4″ (19 mm) measurement then Positek will manufacture the sensor specifically for this length. The calibration will be set up for 19 mm. The overall performance, repeatability and stability are outstanding over a wide temperature range. The sensor is very robust, manufactured from stainless steel the P112 has a long service life and strong environmental resistance and is particuarly suitable for applications that require good sensor performance in harsh environments such as industrial machinery where cost is important.

The P112 has a spring loaded plunger with a dome end and the body has a long 1/2″ UNF mounting thread and is supplied with two lock nuts for positioning. Sealing is IP67 and the P112 has fully integrated EMC protection.

Intrinsically Safe systems provide a safe operating environment for personnel and equipment. Intrinsic Safety (IS) is based on the principle of restricting the  electrical energy transmitted into a hazardous area, thereby ensuring that any sparks or heated surfaces that may occur as a result of electrical failures are insufficient to cause ignition. The threat of an explosion is eliminated.

Positek’s ATEX and IECEx approved Intrinsically Safe sensors can be used in hazardous environments when connected to our approved galvanically isolated amplifier. Positek offers Intrinsically Safe sensors for the following three hazard classifications:

  • ‘A’ Series ANZEx Approved Intrinsically Safe Sensors for Gas/Vapour, Dust and Mining.
  • ‘X’ Series Sensors Position Sensors for use in potentially explosive gas/vapour atmospheres.
  • ‘E’ Series Sensors Position Sensors for use in potentially explosive gas/vapour and dust atmospheres.
  • ‘M’ Series Sensors Position Sensors for use in potentially explosive gas/vapour, dust and mining environments.

The sensors must be used with a galvanically isolated three port amplifier
designed to supply the sensor with a nominal 5V and to transmit the buffered
